Because I'm dumb! Lol. Well, honestly, sometimes it was because I got caught up in the moment. When they do streamathons or sub trains or whatever, it's easy to just jump in and gift subs/donate because other people are, too. She is a small streamer so she talks to people in the chat a lot, so you feel more of a connection. It was over the course of about 9 months, so it never felt like it was all that much at a time. $25 here and there, with one $100 donation. Then I also ordered food delivery for her once or twice. You let that parasocial bullshit take over your mind and they almost feel like a friend, and then you're suddenly wasting so much money. It's insane. It's not until you look back and say oh SHIT I spent HOW much??? that you realize how stupid you are. I have grown apart from all of my friends and I only spend time IRL with family and my boyfriend, and while I love them, it's not quite the same as having my female friends. And hanging out with this streamer kind of feels like that, but it doesn't, but also like why would I be giving her money if she were a friend, I never just handed out money to actual friends lol. I don't know. It's a mess and bottom line is I'm dumb.
