how bad or buggy is sims 4 now? i haven't played it for 2 years

I enjoy playing TS4. It has room for improvement, but I do play it frequently and enjoy my time playing it. Now, is it worth the cost? I'd say no, but if you are buying packs while they're on sale or otherwise acquiring it, it's fine. It doesn't feel entirely cohesive because they have a habit of adding new systems for one expansion that are then abandoned forever, so it can get a little weird with all the different additions still existing but never being updated for future packs. Like Lifestyles from Snowy Escape, and Social Bunny from High School Years. But I don't consider that to be a huge deal... maybe a minor annoyance, but there are mods where you can disable stuff that gets too irritating.

As far as bugs go, I personally rarely-to-never have actual game-breaking bugs. I have minor smaller problems fairly often, but usually they're things I can ignore. (For example, right now the "You and your phone!" discovery/tutorial quest pops up OVER AND OVER AND OVER and I cancel it and it shows up again another Sim day or two later and it's really aggravating, but it's not enough that it disrupts my gameplay.) Occasionally I'll have a day where I go to play and I get hit with multiple of these smaller bugs at a time, and THAT can drain the fun out of it. But I always end up coming back, and again, there are mods and tweaks and fixes for a lot of the problems.

I'm not up to date. I last updated with the Reaper pack. I have no interest in updating for the Business pack. Not only because I'm not interested in another business pack but it is also built with the Rent a virus system. There is some bug that spreads through your save that destroys lots, I don't know if they fixed it but I've read people having issues with the new Business pack. I did install the Rental pack but I haven't dared tried it, I'm deleting it when I'm ready to remove the packs that I don't want anymore.

The game is meh and bloatware. I've been playing a save trying to test out different packs to see what I want to keep. I played with a randomly generated werewolf, had him apply to university, I never heard back and I can't reapply. Lovestruck is rubbish. I want to take my foal for a walk (you can in S3), can't do that either. I'm sick of Strangeville, I'm having problems progressing with the vaccines and I've seen Sims from other towns, in other towns walking around dazed for some reason and it might be because of the Strangeville rubbish. I've got to decide if I like the town enough to keep it.

I haven't had any game breaking bugs. I am having a problem with randomly generated sims showing up checkered red and white. Sometimes it is just the profile pic for some reason. I have default eyes and skins, and mods. No other cc. I can't work out what is causing this issue.

there's apparently a gamebreaking corruption bug that will randomly cause your lots and families to delete themselves if you have for rent installed

for me it's unplayable. both with and without mods, actually, it's MORE broken without mods.

sims ignore your commands, they walk up walls, they walk through walls, random sims run into your house to shit on your toilet and eat your food even if you have your doors locked, randoms from japan will hit up your sim living in san fran to go to a bar in mexico, sometimes your save just fucking corrupts itself for no reason, still no cars, adult sims can ask child sims on dates, STILL NO CARS, sometimes your sims lose limbs for no reason, festivals don't despawn properly so over time you get dozens of stalls stacked on top of each other, events in general just don't work, occasionally the game will start spamming townie households until your game dies, genetics system is still broken, STILL. NO. CARS.

tl;dr it's terrible, just go download smooth patch and dxvk for TS3. if Inzoi ends up being terrible I'm sticking with TS3 for the foreseeable future.
