You get ONE weird feeder kink secret. Sorry, but that's really more than enough. The other two are unposted.

Why does The Little Mermaid remake look so bad?

The poor, unfortunate remake isn’t nearly as visually spectacular as the original Disney classic.

The remake’s main sin, however, is that it’s visually confusing, if not altogether aesthetically unappealing. At times, it looks downright awful.

Director Rob Marshall seems at best confused about — and at worst, hostile to — the vibrant, emotive, and whimsical visual world of the original.

Following the cue of The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast live-action (and CGI-animated) remakes, aims to present a realistic undersea world, but the overall effect is uncanny valley. The sea creatures — dolphins, starfish, crabs, even seagulls — do resemble their real-life counterparts. But perhaps the mimicry is too much, to the point that there’s something about these depictions that triggers an uneasy response. Maybe it’s the prolonged, lingering shots on their “smiling” faces or that their tiny mouths are contorted in unnatural ways.

It’s as though there’s almost something sinister hiding underneath the computerized animal skin — and that’s even before they start singing and dancing.

In keeping with accuracy, the ocean isn’t as brightly lit and some of the creatures, like the sea turtles, look almost dull marching in unison across the ocean floor. It’s confusing that you’re never exactly sure how big the characters or creatures should be within the scale of the scene.

I like that clip of Ariel playing with Flounder. With him just being, well, a fish, with no soul behind his cold, unexpressive, eyes, it just looks like animal abuse.

See, that's one of the disadvantages of trying to do things with live action. You can make a cartoon animal do whatever it needs to do, same with a cartoon candlestick or broom or whatever. But when you try to use CGI to make a "real" animal or dresser or teacup dance and show emotion, it is harder and often doesn't look good or comes across as just creepy.

The furniture etc in Beauty and the Beast already made me so uncomfortable that I decided that I'm never watching another shitty live action remake film from Disney again. With the Little Mermaid I saw someone comment that the actress who's Ariel in it looks like Sid from Ice Age and I keep thinking about that unable to see anything else anymore. She's Sid, period.

this one isn't any worse than the other live action remakes but all of the live action remakes look awful. there's no excitement or anything interesting visually compared to the animated versions. i wish they just kept to cel animation or did a stylized pixar 3d adaptation instead of this.
