I have some friends who are having their first baby soon, and they are having the realization that while to them, their whole entire world has changed, but to everyone else on the planet outside of their immediate circle, their baby is just another baby. If people are strangers to you, one couple's baby is the exact same as another couple's baby. But some folks seem to expect the entire world to be as excited as they are about their upcoming baby. Again this isn't an anti-child or anti-parent thing, it's just a kind of life realization that people have and it hits more abruptly than some life realizations, and I am watching it happen to my friends in real time. Like we all eventually realize that you don't grow up and then magically hit an age where you know what you're doing and have your life perfectly together. You also have to come out of that bubble of "I'm a parent and my whole life is rocked now!" and realize that millions of other people are parents too and that you're not any more special than you were before you were a parent."
