Im a over 30yo and only recently learned that very heavy-flow periods for up to 10 days on a row is it NOT the norm for most women
And proably why my mother would shame me for not being able to manage my period as a young teen. I felt like shit using pad after pad and still having accidents, while she "barely needed a bit of toilet paper and never had an accident in her life"
I also needed the large heavy duty pads which she refused to buy me becuase it was shamefull, and would get mad if i went thru a bag of pads too fast cause I was being wastefull
"you dont need to change them when is just a bit of stain, hon" ... but i never dared to answer
" it is Not a bit,it is a LOT and My pad is overflowing already!" Becuase i felt too guilty and ashamed
I never understood how my classmates could use those little pads that look like liners to me and be comfotable, and that made me feel ever more ashamed, like I was broken.
No one ever told, "it is ok,all woman periods are different, some get it harder than others"
