I have some friends who are having their first baby soon, and they are having the realization that while to them, their whole entire world has changed, but to everyone else on the planet outside of their immediate circle, their baby is just another baby. i took a nap and had the weirdest dream about a sims 4 update. the update was supposed to add cultural foods, but it ended up being even more controversial than the pronoun update. a bunch of dishes were labelled for various cultures, but they either had no relation or they were straight up offensive. some standout examples:
malaysian mud pie, required ball of dust, sugar, and rice
icelandic faux whale steak, required frog legs, anchovy, and oil
japanese catsu sashimi, required one whole cat but you weren't allowed to kill the cat, you had to wait for the cat to die of natural causes and then cook while the grim reaper was still on your lot
italian mother's meatball, required normal meat, an infant, chicken, and any fish. was categorized as a grand meal and would instantly make your sim max weight. apparently it was okay to kill babies for some reason, stick them in the oven and they would pop out like the baby from wtfbbq

twitter and reddit were swarmed with people asking what the fuck was wrong with the devs, what was the point, petitions to shut down maxis, etc. lilsimsie and james turners also released videos stating they were leaving the gamechanger program because of it.

Nah, I get it. I have lots of good memories of Sims 2 and I do think it's a solid game still today, but the people who won't stop jerking themselves and one another off over it are really obnoxious.
