Fine, guys. There won't be an off-topic lounge. Even though it's a *kickass* idea we won't do it, we guess. Also, I talked to Bella and I did want to point out that my reasoning wasn't "people are posting things I don't like" because if that were true I'd delete most things you guys post. Rather, it was because like as some commenters have stated in the last post, we're like moving way off the topic of sims. We aren't a politics blog, we're a sims blog.

Unrelated but does anyone who uses DreamWidth and knows HTML know if Dreamwidth supports Iframes?

Also, say Happy Birthday to Calmcil! It was their birthday last week!

I feel that your should have started the poll on Friday along with the new secrets since now it has bias on those who visit daily and spam. A lot of people likely only visit during the weekend then after boring trolls and spammers appear they stop checking the comments and blog so now you only got the votes of those who very devotedly spam and obviously the outcome reflects that. Politics is imbued into everything these days. You cannot escape it. It's not the 90s anymore.

The trend of picking up one or two current political topics and discussing it has been around from before you all took charge.

Every decade has been political. the 1990s had the gulf war, the berlin wall fell in 1989, the 1980s had the AIDs epidemic and was very political with gay rights and Reagan's presidency.

1970s and 1960s were the height of the cold and Vietnam war. Fortunate Son was released in 1969 as a protest song since the draftees for the war were disproportionately from lower-income backgrounds while the sons of wealthier families could (and did) pay fortunes to have their children disqualified from the draft.

It is simply that starting in the early 2000s with widespread use of the internet and social media it became harder to censor politics. Thus, different topics are discussed more because more people know about them.

I do recommend putting up a poll not during the week though. Or at least give it a full 7 days.

EDIT: Not entirely sure if DW supports Iframes but it's worth testing. If you want to make a private DW journal or comm post, the option is there. DW is kind of... janky when it comes to what HTML it likes and what it doesn't. Sorry I couldn't be of much help beyond that, it's been a couple years since I did significant coding here. :(

This is actually a point I brought up because it could easily be taken out of context and used as a sign that I am supporting an agenda, or mass deleting, or trying to censor anons by deleting their comments whilst my intentions in this situation would simply to be cleaning up offtopic discussion.
