So I just wanted to make a post about this now. I'm pretty much done dealing with both sides of the patreon drama. I mean, you know which side I personally come down on but at this point? You've both decimated each other in one way or another. Like I deleted the posts on my blog about it, not because I didn't mean what I said, but because like at this point? I think this is big enough that the community is going to splinter over it. I don't think this is gonna be fixable.

You're never going to get people to stop pirating and you're never going to stop people from selling/buying (even if it is stolen *cough*) But like, over all, the CC community has been getting worse overall due to the elitism and all of the creators being like smashed together on big social media websites anyway. It's not about creativity for a lot of people anymore? It's not even really about the money either for a lot of people. Like, it's clout.

If the larger community makes you that mad then like, join a discord, find some people you REALLY like and fuck everybody else.

Like I just want have fun on the internet. I like Mack but I blocked her because like, I'm just not interested in helping you guys tear each other apart over virtual doll clothes. Like, you did you damage to the patreon creators. You got what you wanted to out of it, so I'm out.

You can't claim to hate racism and then get upset because POC players want to enjoy POC gameplay the way they want to, as these "realities" they are creating in game have no actual effect on you or the real world. Especially when most games and media have catered to the "white" or euro-centric community for years, so POC players are more than allowed to create their customizable game however they see fit. Don't hurt yourself over something you don't even need to be hurt by. Let people play how they choose to play. When you join those Facebook groups, you are accepting the fact that no one's gameplay is gonna be the same as yours, with white sims or not, and you're gonna hear/see/read about it next time you're online

I'm not sure why you think that the person is upset that POC enjoy the Sims. I agree the history of gaming and media has catered to white people. Was one of the first things I noticed about Sims 4 when I bought it at launch, the lack of diversity with skin tones and hair. And Mira's melanin pack is still very well used in my game even after the update.

The point being made is the contradiction. The post isn't about other peoples gameplay, it's about the vitriol against white people.

Confession; this Patreon drama has made me question "why am I posting my things for free when I could easily go early access and some people would be happy to throw me money for it?" And I hate it since I feel it's morally wrong.

But also sharing content for free if often a thankless job, just look at the download vs heart button ratio in any upload hosted in simfileshare, people can't even be bothered as much as click on that heart, they just download. If you have a PayPal button for optional donations you're lucky if you receive few donations in a year. Sometimes it feels like you aren't even a human to other people, you're just a vending machine that doesn't take any coins to use and just spits out content. In the best case someone might even get angry if you make something for yourself and decide to not share it because maybe you just wanted something unique for yourself for once? Then you're suddenly the bad guy who doesn't share their toys and so on. What I mean is that I totally understand people who do early access content and I'm tempted to join them, maybe then people would appreciate me and my willingness to put my time in cc creation more than now.

Fuck all permapaywallers though, may your harddrives fail and PayPal accounts be frozen.

Honestly I feel like paywall cc creators are taking their customers for granted. Yes we will pay to make our games exciting, but did we not already pay for the base game? The packs? Not saying they don't deserve to be paid for their time and work, but if you are making your living off of ONLY making cc for a game a corporate company made, are you really thriving? I have no problem supporting the people that make awesome cc that will made available free to the users who are already struggling to pay for the packs and just want to spice up their game, but I will not be made to feel bad for not wanting to pay for cc that someone has to DM to me so that I can enjoy a game I already paid hundreds of dollars for.

i've been thinking the same thing. when i was a kid aol was still The Internet and it was hammered into everyone's heads to never share your personal info online. things got kind of blurry with myspace but i feel like with facebook all privacy just went out the window and now everyone's real identity is directly linked to their online presence on just about every website. it's so crazy to think about.

maybe i'm just old but i STILL keep my online presence completely isolated from irl. it's bonkers to me that mack is just sharing her real life out there in the open while she's stirring up shit with ppl who are well known to be petty and overall shitty people.

I can tell you what: the people who grew up being told to be careful online are now the parents, it's clear as day to them that you'll use fake name online and don't link your accounts together so they probably don't think that is something they should be teaching their kids too because "everyone already knows this"

+ of course sites like Facebook/Meta lowered the sense of what you should keep hidden and what not and normalized sharing your personal details publicly.

You're confusing racism with racial prejudice.
