what is the appeal of watching eating challenges? i'm not talking about mukbangs but rather where people are supposed to eat a giant meal in 30 minutes or as many hot dogs as possible in a 10 minute period or whatever. i find it so gross and unappealing to watch someone shovel food into their mouth as quickly as they can. it's honestly sickening

I've never understood it either. Not watching or participating. When I was in high school they had an eating contest to see who could eat the most Little Debbie zebra cakes in a few minutes. Multiple people threw up. I thought it was so disgusting. I hate the way it feels to be too full and I don't know why people subject themselves to it. And just watching others stuff themselves makes me think of how shitty I would feel if I were doing that. And yes, it's gross to watch someone pushing food down as quickly as they can. Ick.
