that's what gets me. these people are allegedly in such a severe crisis that they have NO money for any food. they have no food at all. and yet they are drinking soda?? like shit at that point it's time to drink water. drink tap water if it's ok to drink and if not then get the cheapest bottled water the store sells. holy shit.

When my family was poor soda was a luxury. You drink water or tea (southern state and churches are always handing out small boxes of tea.

Same here. We weren't as bad off as her family appears to be, the bills were always paid and we always had food, but things were very tight. Soda was definitely a luxury, not an everyday thing. My parents would buy a 12 pack around holidays and birthdays, and everybody got a few cans and then that was it for a few months. Mainly it was an expense thing, but also a health thing, because it's terrible for you.
